Violet Grohl has launched her latest release “Cool Buzz,” pulled from her eagerly anticipated debut full-length album, Be Sweet To Me. “Cool Buzz” marks the fourth preview of the 11-track album, which is due on May 29 via Auroura Records / Republic Records. An accompanying music video for the track is also expected to drop on Friday, May 1.
The track takes aim at “poking fun at moral inconsistencies in punk guys who preach progressive politics, but then in their own musical spaces won’t let women have a chance,” Grohl shares. That perspective is rooted in the music that shaped her early on, listening to 80s and 90s alternative rock. “There’s something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw,” she says, pointing to artists like Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, PJ Harvey, The Muffs, Björk, Alice in Chains, L7, and Juliana Hatfield. “I’ve listened to that stuff since I was a kid.”
