Ozzy Osbourne Tempers Stance On Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Voting is currently going on for the 2002 class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and once again Black Sabbath is among the finalists on the ballot. Frontman Ozzy Osbourne has made many caustic comments about the Hall and has intimated that he has no interest in being thus enshrined. However, in a recent chat with LAUNCH, Osbourne changed his tone somewhat and indicated that, if elected, he would serve.

“I’ve voiced my opinion about it,” he explained. “I don’t really believe in it, to the respect that it’s not voted by the people-it’s voted by the committee. And if you’re up against people like Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and the likes of that, then you got Black Sabbath, you know who ain’t gonna make it. But, you know, eventually I’ve got to come to the reality, and I suppose I’ve gotta go for it, you know? If it happens, it happens-if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. My life’s not gonna be changed either way.”

Osbourne releases Down To Earth, his first solo album in six years, on October 16. He’ll promote it with the Merry Mayhem tour featuring Rob Zombie, which kicks off on Halloween night (October 31).
