Vivendi Universal’s MP3.com has signed online retailer CD Baby to distribute CDs by artists featured on the popular independent music site.
Oregon-based CD Baby said it will provide warehousing, fulfillment and customer service for MP3.com artists, whose site pages will be linked to CD Baby’s online store. The company collects $4 on each CD sold. Since it was founded in 1997, CD Baby has paid out just under $1 million to artists. It currently represents more than 11,000 musicians, according to its Web site. -Evan Hansen, Special to ZDNet News
