MCY'S Pyramid Music Partners With Kid Creole And The Coconuts For New Album And Show Production

Next-generation music company MCY (MCY.com, Inc.) today announced the signing of hit swing fusion band Kid Creole and the Coconuts to MCY subsidiary Pyramid Music.

Pyramid will release the group’s new album, “Too Cool to Conga,” in June and will create a digital production from the groups American Tour performances in July. The audio-visual spectacular will be produced for distribution through CD, DVD, Television and secure digital downloading and streaming.

MCY CEO Bernhard Fritsch commented, “Kid Creole and the Coconuts are among the music world’s most compelling performers – their music meshes infectiously groovy tunes with the artists’ wit and exuberant energy. We’re excited to welcome them to the MCY family.”

Pyramid President Allen Jacobi added, “‘Too Cool to Conga’ is a party on every track. The show will be a must-see musical experience. We’re delighted to help Kid and his players bring this great work to fans worldwide.”

Kid Creole added, “The Coconuts and I are performers who delight in giving our audience a good time. With Pyramid and MCY, we can let our fans experience all the sites and sounds of our outrageously entertaining musical extravanza.”

Kid Creole and the Coconuts are world-reknowned for their witty lyrics, entertaining stage shows, and a catchy internationalist fusion swing style that combines elements of Latin, reggae, calypso, disco, rap and rock.

“Too Cool to Conga” is the group’s fourteenth album and is a musical odyssey that draws primarily from the R&B and swing musical styles. The ten songs on the album, which culminates in the catchy title song, are as follows: “Let’s Jam,” “Flip Flop and Fly/My Gal’s A Jockey,” “Man Oh Man,” “Personal Assistant,” “Stingy Brim,” “I Saw Her First,” “Who’s Your Daddy Now,” “Endicott,” “Get Rid” and “Too Cool To Conga.”

Kid Creole and the Coconuts have been a top-selling act for over two decades, fusing rock, reggae, calypso, disco, and rap styles with witty lyrics and a fresh, tongue-in-cheek attitude. Founded by Montreal, Canada-born August Darnell, who personifies the swaggering, zoot-suited Kid Creole, the band has released thirteen albums and performed for a number of films and television specials in the United States and the U.K., including “Against All Odds” in 1984, “New York Stories” in 1989 and “Car 54, Where Are You?” in 1994. The 1981 album that launched an innovative conceptual album trilogy, “Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places,” was one of the band’s biggest successes, depicting a whirlwind musical odyssey during which the Kid and the Coconuts search the globe for the illusive Mimi. This idea surfaced again in further albums and is indicative of the creativity behind the group’s music. Kid Creole and his band have kept pace with the times to repeatedly achieve a fresh, enticing sound that merges musical trends from around the world and continues to enchant their audience.
