Madonna's DROWNED WORLD TOUR Video & DVD in Stores November 13th

Madonna’s acclaimed DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 which played to sold out audiences around the world this past summer will arrive in stores on video and DVD November l3th. A tour-de-force concert extravaganza, DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 was originally broadcast live on HBO from the diva’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan at The Palace of Auburn Hills on August 26th, 2001.

DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 is a dazzling all-out revue which focuses on a mix of material primarily from Madonna’s two most recent releases as well as show stopping versions of her signature songs HOLIDAY and LA ISLA BONITA. The San Francisco Chronicle claimed Madonna “part dancer, part singer, pop visionary, all star and the living centerpiece of an extraordinary electronic tableaux.” As proof of her ever-evolving artistry, Madonna plays guitar live for the first time on a number of songs during the show.

The show opens with a futuristic setting and consists of four distinctly different segments – “punk rock girl,” “geisha girl,” “cowgirl” and Spanish/ghetto girl diva. The show was directed by Hamish Hamilton and features Madonna’s long time background vocalists Donna DeLorey and Niki Haris as well as her five-member band. The DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 was stage directed and choreographed by Jamie King. Additional highlights include an homage to the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” with Madonna flying 25 feet above her audience as well as hit singles “Ray of Light,” “Frozen,” Don’t Tell Me,” “Human Nature,” “Secret” and a stunning version of “Lo Que Siente La Mujer (What It Feels Like For a Girl)” which Madonna sings entirely in Spanish. Several of these songs are included on the upcoming Madonna’s GHV2 CD, which will be released simultaneously with the DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 VHS/DVD release.

The DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 VHS and DVD are closed-captioned and the DVD is presented in AC-3 Surround 5.1 DTS PCM Stereo for the best sound quality. With cover packaging featuring photographs taken on tour by Madonna’s longtime friend, Rosie O’Donnell, DROWNED WORLD TOUR 2001 is the latest addition to join Madonna’s catalogue of retail home video releases from Warner Reprise Video including: “Madonna,” “Live – The Virgin Tour,” “Ciao Italia – Live,” “Justify My Love” (video single), “The Immaculate Collection,” “The Girlie Show – Live Down Under,” “Ray Of Light” (video single), “The Video Collection 93:99,” “Music” (DVD Single), and “What It Feels Like For A Girl” (DVD Single).

One of the most influential and talked about stars of the last two decades, Madonna has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide.
