Limp Bizkit And Guitarist Wes Borland Split

Limp Bizkit and guitarist Wes Borland have split, according to a message posted Friday (October 12) on the band’s official website. The move comes less than a year after Borland released Duke Lion Fights The Terror by his side-project Big Dumb Face. The guitarist also toured to support the release.

“Limp Bizkit and Wes Borland have amicably decided to part ways,” reads the message on limpbizkit.com. “Both Limp Bizkit and Borland will continue to pursue their respective musical careers. Both wish each other the best of luck in all future endeavors.”

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst and Borland were last seen performing together on the America: A Tribute To Heroes telethon on September 21, which raised money more than $150 million for the victims and families affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The pair, along with Goo Goo Dolls singer-guitarist John Rzeznik, performed a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”

In recent weeks, Durst has been busy with several projects outside of Limp Bizkit. He produced the rock remix of the all-star “What’s Going On” charity single, which features Bizkit members John Otto and Sam Rivers, but not Borland. In addition, Durst directed new videos by rockers Puddle Of Mudd and rapper 8Ball.

Limp Bizkit had spent some time in the studio writing the follow-up to Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water. In an online post last month, Durst hinted all was not well in the band.

“Limp Bizkit has been shacked up in a rehearsal space writing our new album. It looks like we don’t really like the vibe of the one we’ve been in for the last few weeks so we’re moving to another one with new vibes…The new album has got be the next level for you and for us. We have to take things to a place where we can reinvent ourselves. You’ll understand what I mean soon enough,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the band is planning to release Limp Remizkit, an album and companion DVD of remixes, in December. The CD features remixes of Limp Bizkit songs by Durst, Borland, DJ Lethal, DJ Premiere, P. Diddy, the Neptunes, William Orbit, Josh Abraham, Bubba Sparxxx, 8 Ball, E40, and other guests.
