John Mayer donates ‘Heart of Life’ for Red Cross Haiti

John Mayer is once again throwing his support behind the American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. The singer/songwriter has donated his song “The Heart of Life” — from his 2006 album Continuum — for a national TV and radio public service announcement about the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake.

Viewable at YouTube, the Red Cross PSA highlights individual contributions towards Haiti earthquake relief, from neighborhood yard sales to small business donations, emphasizing that even the smallest donations can make a difference.

In addition to the PSA, Mayer has made a donation of $500,000 to the American Red Cross through his Back to You Fund. Earlier in January, the singer performed on the CNN special “Haiti: How You Can Help,” which raised over $5.8 Million for the Red Cross.

“We thank John Mayer for his generosity — he’s lent his time, talent AND money,” American Red Cross president/CEO Gail McGovern said in a statement. “With his help and that of so many others, we’ll do everything we can to help the people of Haiti cope and recover.”
