Goo Goo Dolls Put Finishing Touches on 'Gutterflower' for 2002

The Goo Goo Dolls are in a Los Angeles studio putting finishing touches on their seventh album, Gutterflower. Band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin have recorded twelve songs for the disc which is due out in 2002. Gutterflower is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Dizzy Up The Girl).

Beginning December 2nd and concluding December 17th, John Rzeznik’s 1967 Pontiac GTO will be put up for bids on VH1 and eBay in connection with VH1-1’s My Music Awards (Dec. 2 at 9:00 pm ET/PT). The classic car is white with black interior and is being auctioned off with other one-of-a-kind rock collectibles and memorabilia, with proceeds benefiting VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. This non-profit organization is dedicated to restoring music education programs in public schools and raising awareness of the positive impact music participation has on students across America.

The Goo Goo Dolls took part in three recent benefit concerts for victims and families of the September 11th terrorist attacks. On September 21st, John Rzeznik appeared on the worldwide televised event, “America: A Tribute to Heroes” performing Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” with Limp Bizkit. On October 20th, the Goo Goo Dolls performed at the “Concert for New York” in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and on October 21st they performed at the “United We Stand” concert at RFK Stadium in Wash., D.C. Performances from “A Tribute to Heroes” will be available for purchase on CD, DVD and video December 4th. “The Concert for New York” CD is in stores now. All three events helped raise millions of dollars, and proceeds from audio and video purchases will also benefit victims of the tragedies.
