Republic/Universal recording artists Godsmack moved into the No. 5 spot on the national Active Rock Radio chart (BDS) this week with their new single, “Greed.” The track is the group’s latest smash from their recently released, multi-platinum selling album, Awake.
Moreover, Greed marks the group’s 6th consecutive Top 5 single on the country’s Active Rock chart.
Godsmack, which consists of Sully Erna (vocals), Tony Rombola (guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass) and Tommy Stewart (drums), has been paving the way for the new resurgence in rock music. Awake, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, followed the 3x platinum success of the band’s self-titled debut in 1998 which spawned such Top 5 Rock hits as “Whatever” and “Keep Away.”
Most recently, Godsmack swept the 2001 Boston Music Awards, being named Act of the Year, and winning coveted trophies for Album of the Year (Awake), Outstanding Rock Band, and Male Vocalist of the Year (Sully Erna).
