Curb Records Adds John Butler To Team

Dennis P. Hannon, Executive V. P. and General Manager of Curb Records, announced today the appointment of John Butler as Senior Director, Promotion and Marketing for the label.

“John’s wealth of experience will be a valuable asset to Curb as we continue to grow. John’s primary focus will be marketing our artists to Pop radio and exploiting our music to the broadest possible marketplace. As our business evolves, we need to be on the cutting edge and one step ahead of the game. John Butler gets it.”

A native New Yorker, John got his start in radio at WHTZ-Z100 as a phone op/music assistant and then segued to TVT Records in 1990 where he served as Manager of College Promotion, helping to launch the first Nine Inch Nails album. A move to Jive/Silvertone Records, where he was Head of Promotion (94-97) gave him the opportunity to help break Jars of Clay, Bob Carlisle and others. After accepting a position as Head of Promotion with Arista Austin he relocated to Nashville. Most recently John held the title of Head of Promotion at Squint Entertainment and played a major role in the success of Six Pence None The Richer, L. A. Symphony and Chevelle.

John says he’s thrilled to join the Curb team, “I’m honored and humbled to Mike Curb and Dennis Hannnon and feel very fortunate to join the most successful independent record company in the business. I hope that I am able to make a positive impact as Curb expands.”

According to Hannon, “This is not the same business it was a year ago, or six months ago for that matter. Each day presents a new challenge -and Curb Records is up for the challenge.”

“JB” will be based in the Curb Nashville office. He officially comes on board September 4th.
