Adema Debut Album Posts Big League First Week Sales

When Arista President Antonio “L.A.” Reid signed recording group Adema he made sure they did it the right way – after completing their debut album they hit the road on a series of shows opening for Staind, and the commitment has paid off with an impressive top 5 entry for their self-titled debut album on Soundscan’s Hard Music, Hard Music Core Albums and Alternative Core Albums charts.

“The buzz is strong, the music stronger,” raved Billboard, as the momentum carried over to ADEMA’s #27 debut on the all-ruling Billboard Top 200 Albums chart (issued dated September 8th).

“Moody, hard and melodic,” as judged Rolling Stone, “a creative palette of soaring solos, singing lines and textures,” the album’s success is underscored by top 15 Active Rock and top 20 Alternative radio airplay in Billboard Monitor for their first single, “Giving In.” The promotional video for “Giving In,” directed by Paul Fedor (Marilyn Manson) is currently in rotation on MTV and M2. The ADEMA album was produced in Los Angeles by Tobias “Tobi” Miller (guitarist in the Wallflowers) and Bill Appleberry.

Crowned “Nu-metal’s next big thing” (Kerrang!), ADEMA’s first week sales of nearly 50,000 copies (winning top 20 debuts at virtually every major retail chain) eclipsed recent debuts by such artists as Linkin Park, Drowning Pool, Jimmy Eat World and Saliva (to name a few). These numbers take the Bakersfield band off the farm circuit and put Adema in the major league alongside Sum 41.

Adema’s early summer tour with Staind – reprised on HBO’s “Reverb” series (August 29th, from a show taped in Philadelphia) introduced U.S. fans to the “brooding metal riffs [and] agonized vocals” of these “neo-metal marauders,” as Pulse characterized them. Next month Adema hit the road with Linkin Park playing a week of European shows. They will tour Hamburg, Berlin, Manchester, London, and Paris, then Adema returns home to open a fall tour with Disturbed (dates to be announced).

Adema is comprised of lead singer Mark “Marky” Chavez, guitarist Mike Ransom, bassist Dave DeRoo and guitarist Tim Fluckey, and drummer Kris Kohls.
