Faith Evans Kicks Freestyle Rap For 'You Gets No Love'

Faith Evans did not seek out a rapper to add a verse to her single “You Gets No Love,” the first single from her album Faithfully, scheduled for release on November 6. She decided to handle the rap herself, according to the song’s producer Michael Angelo.

The producer, who was a member of the early ’90s band Portrait, tells LAUNCH that Evans’s rapping skills surprised him. “She has real skills to rap a whole tune,” says the producer, who recently completed songs for Babyface, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg. “I don’t know if that has anything to do with being around Biggie. But I’m pretty sure that if you’re around the king of rap like that you’re going to acquire some kind of skills. It was her idea. She freestyles a lot. That was just kinda like a freestyle. She just decided to put it in there.”

Evans was married to the late Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls, at the time of his 1997 death.
