System Of A Down Album Tops Revised Chart

A rare revision by music tracking firm SoundScan has catapulted Los Angeles hard rock band System of a Down to No. 1 on the U.S. pop album charts, the group’s publicist said Sunday.

The group’s second album, “Toxicity,” had originally debuted at No. 2 with sales of 170,000 units when data for the week ended Sept. 9 were issued Wednesday morning. R&B singer Alicia Keys’ “Songs In A Minor” was No. 1 with 192,000 units.

But SoundScan later in the day adjusted the System of a Down data by adding 50,000 units of a limited-edition enhanced CD of “Toxicity,” which had not been included in the original tally.

System of a Down will begin its 30-city “Pledge of Allegiance” co-headlining tour with Slipknot Sept. 21 in Denver. The tour was supposed to begin last Thursday in Chicago, but was delayed by the Sept. 11 attacks on the East Coast. The four affected dates have been moved to October.
