Creed Map Out Recording Plans For Third LP

Creed have begun molding the follow-up to 1999’s Human Clay.

Frontman Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti have written several songs for the band’s third album and will begin recording tracks in late June or July, according to Creed’s publicist. Though the group has yet to settle on a title, the name Weathered is being considered.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” seems to be Creed’s creed for the new album, as John Kurzweg, who produced both Human Clay and its predecessor, 1997’s My Own Prison, will be at the helm. Proper studios will once again be forgone in favor of makeshift recording rooms, as the band will record the new material in a rented house in Orlando. My Own Prison was recorded in Kurzweg’s Tallahassee, Fla., home, while work on the second album was done in a rented wood cabin.

In January, Tremonti hinted that the new album would have the same attributes as the group’s other multi-platinum efforts, only more intense.

“It’s gonna be more extreme on all extremities,” Tremonti said. “The harder stuff a little harder, the epic stuff a little more epic.”
